Tuesday, February 12, 2013 — A Fun Tapis Bar Tonight

Caroline enjoying
her first meal at Noe's Comida on Pino Suarez

Some days food is not a major item, and some days it seems to be so.  I initiated one of my classmates who caught me sitting on a park bench, watching the world go by. She asked me if I'd eaten and would I like to join her at the little comida I've been  telling everyone about that is just a few door down from Las Mariposas, my lovely local home. We went there and she was able to have a good vegetarian meal. I have yet to have a bad meal there. We talked about life and aging and having a good time overall.

My class is now downsized to the same people and number it was before yesterday. The traveling bug that seems to be moving quickly through our class, just took over our good natured, pregnant maestra and she needed to take herself to the doctor by the fourth hour of our class — the outdoor conversation part. She arranged for another teacher to take over that hour and we were joined by our newbies from yesterday who are in a class now with the sub. She pulled out a "game" and I sighed. But I ended up having a great time playing Uno, which everyone but me already knew all about. I might just be won over. The hour passed very quickly and I may have even learned a new word or two.

I was invited to join several people for a little beer and tapis at a nearby bar this evening. It's actually just upstairs from the restaurant we ate at several nights ago. We ate outside on the roof in view of a crisp sliver of a moon and some prominent stars. The temperature was perfect, the beer was cold and the tapis were just right. How much better can it get?
